It’s the final few days of construction at Caerwent, before filming begins on Monday 28th.
We’ve already brought you some details of what’s being filmed and when, and we can now exclusively share some details that will go some way to showing the sheer scale of the work that’s currently being done.
The scenes being shot will cover the area below (click to see a larger version, or click here to see more on Google Maps.
The buildings in area 1 will be fitted out as prisoner barracks, with holding cages on the ground floor and guards patrolling above. Area 2, which features railway lines, will double as the prisoner arrival area.
Over the whole site, work will involve removing current fencing and replacing it with POW camp razor wire, construction of guard watch towers, roof-mounted search lights, removal of vegitation, the levelling of a large area of land to be used for the battle sequence, as well as the placing of equipment ramps and temporary buildings. A huge undertaking, as you will agree!
We’ll keep our eye on things and try to bring you more as filming begins.
Captain America: The First Avenger is directed by Joe Johnston, and stars Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America, Sebastian Stan as sidekick Bucky Barnes, Hugo Weaving as villain The Red Skull, Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, Tommy Lee Jones as General Chester Phillips, Stanley Tucci as Dr. Abraham Erskine, Neal McDonough as Dum Dum Dugan, Toby Jones as Arnim Zola, and Richard Armitage as Heinz Kruger.
